BREVARD COUNTY, FL – This year’s free annual Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar will be held at Eau Gallie High School Auditorium on February 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a recording from from 8:15 a.m.

In addition to numerous suppliers, there will be four captivating presentations:

■ 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.: “Creating habitat for birds” by Skip Healy, Change of Greenery

■ 9:45 – 10:30 a.m.: “10 things being done to help the lagoon that you probably haven’t heard of” by Kathy Hill, Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program

■ 10:45 – 11:30 am: “Grow your own delicious food! by Sally Scalera, UF/IFAS Extension, Brevard County

■ 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: “Florida-friendly landscaping in HOAs and everywhere!” by Claire Lewis, University of Florida – Florida Friendly Landscaping Program

Once the speakers are over, door prizes will be awarded to the winning ticket holders. All participants who complete the surveys will receive goody bags containing hose nozzles, gardening gloves and native plant seeds.

This free seminar also includes muffins and donuts from Love Bugs Bakery, coffee, and other goodies. Participants must bring their own reusable water bottles. To fill them, water in large jugs will be provided.

The event is being planned and hosted by the City of Melbourne, City of Palm Bay, City of Satellite Beach, Brevard County Natural Resource Management, Brevard County Utilities Department, City Extension University of Florida/IFAS Brevard and the National Indian River Lagoon Estuary Program. /Indian River Lagoon Council.
