GNB had been looking for the right place to open a bar in the bay for a while. The brewery was about to pull the trigger on the Oakland and Sacramento spots, but the timing just wasn’t right. Luckily, the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room was no longer the best fit for them and it fell into the lap of the already built Great Notion! The GN management team has personal ties to Berkeley, so Fourth Street feels like home to the brewery.

Great Notion’s Berkeley location will be 2,000 square feet with a radiant patio. Initially, opening hours will be Tuesday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 9 a.m., Friday from 12 p.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and closed on Monday. The brewery plans to launch the food program with artisan charcuterie and cheese boards, among other items from local vendors.

“Fourth Street Berkeley here we come!” says Paul Reiter, CEO of Great Notion. “We are no strangers to the region, having spent a ton of time in the bay for collaborations and takeovers and the response has been impressive. Get ready for more of our smoothie northwest style beers, super excellent hazy IPAs and super drinkable clear ales.
